About Me


Borja Erice is a Senior Lecturer,  Ramón y Cajal and Ikerbasque Research Fellow in the Department of Mechanics and Industrial Production at Mondragon Unibertsitatea. His research area is the experimental, theoretical and computational mechanics of materials and structural components subjected to extreme loading conditions. He is currently part of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Impact Engineering.

Dr. Erice received his PhD in Materials Engineering (international certification and cum laude) from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in 2012, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation through a FPI Fellowship. After that, he held several postdoctoral positions at École Polytechnique (France), at ETH Zürich (Switzerland) and the University of Oxford (UK), where he was involved in several teaching and research activities. In 2018 he moved to the Norwegian University of Science and Technology with a permanent Researcher contract. In 2020 he was awarded with the Ikerbasque Research Fellow international competitive call, that allowed him to get a faculty position at Mondragon Unibertsitatea. Since 2022, he also holds a Ramón y Cajal Fellowship.
